Our Values

We treat all members of Goodwill and the community with dignity, respect, and compassion.

We conduct our business and interactions with honesty and integrity.

We behave responsibly as good corporate citizens.

We embrace diversity in all areas of our business.

We demonstrate initiative in all we do, building our enterprise with creativity, action, responsibility, and excellence.

We learn continuously and seek opportunities to gain understanding through training, development, and practice.

Goodwill Industries of El Paso serves Far West Texas and Southwest New Mexico. We believe in helping people improve their quality of life through economic development. Everything we do is geared toward helping people succeed in their career path. We provide employment, job assistance, and career oriented training. The old adage “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime” guides our efforts.

SEVENTY-FIVE YEARS OF SERVICE TO WEST TEXAS AND SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO

Since its founding in 1948, Goodwill Industries of El Paso has helped individuals with disabilities or vocational disadvantages help themselves through Goodwill’s philosophy of giving a “hand up, not a hand-out.” Achieving self-sufficiency is at the heart of our mission.

We are one of more than 160 independent Goodwills in the United States, all of which are member organizations in Goodwill Industries International. In the early 1900s, Edgar J. Helms, our founder, described Goodwill as an “industrial program as well as a social service enterprise…a provider of employment, training, and rehabilitation for people of limited employability, and a source of temporary assistance for individuals whose resources were depleted.”

Goodwill Industries of El Paso today continues its original mission as a social service provider, a significant retailer in El Paso, Dona Ana, and Otero counties, and a long-time premier recycler diverting millions of pounds from our landfills…even before “going green” was part of our vocabulary! We work with diverse groups of people by equipping them with the skills and confidence to begin life on their own independently, responsibly, and with self-sufficiency.

Our three-year strategic plan guides us to a brighter-than-ever future, fueling financial stability to provide steady growth in employment and employment services to the people and communities of West Texas and Southern New Mexico. We hope you enjoy reviewing our plan and we look forward to your feedback.

Together we can increase our outreach to those in need as we make life better through work.
